SpeedUPAfrica earmarks $1m to catalyse African start-ups

In an effort to speed up the tech ecosystem in Africa and make it compete on a global scale, investor agencies, including SpeedUpAfrica will make the sum of $1 million available for African start-ups that are up-to-speed.

To this end, a SpeedUPAfrica Bootcamp, with the purpose of empowering a new wave of African start-ups and the ultimate aim of affording the eventual winner the opportunity to source the fund will hold in Lagos Nigeria in July.

Throwing more light on the initiative, Toro Orero the Managing Partner at DraperDarkFlow, who is noted to be the driving force behind SpeedUPAfrica says; “Our focus is on mentors, workshops and investments as well as networking and socialising with like-minded entrepreneurs. We will ensure that the SpeedUPAfrica week is a defining moment in the life of the start-ups who attend”.

Once again, Silicon Valley VC firm Draper Dark Flow (DDF), the team behind the bootcamp is following in the success of 2016 by providing practical solutions to everything from securing funding and attracting new users, to product differentiation and expansion.
