Gunmen abduct five persons in Kaduna

Sporadic shootings by gunmen disrupted the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to decide its candidate for the November 16, governorship election in Kogi State.

The unfortunate event happened around 2:00 AM on Wednesday morning after the election had ended and sorting of votes cast for aspirants was ongoing.

The electoral officials, delegates, aspirants and their supporters at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium, venue of the primary, took to their heels as sounds of gunshots were heard within and around the stadium.

Following the confusion, the exercise was stopped abruptly.

Many people at the venue of the election, including journalists were injured; some lost their phones and other belongings as a result of the incident.
