Spurs beat Liverpool in first leg of Carabao Cup semi

Tottenham Hotspur have secured a first-leg 1-0 victory over Liverpool in their Carabao Cup semifinal tie.
Spurs edged out their visitors in a controversial finale which saw Lucas Bergvall score an 86th-minute winner.
Bergvall was on a yellow card when he caught Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas late in an incident not seen by referee Stuart Attwell.
Tsimikas was still off the pitch when Bergvall scored moments later, prompting a furious reaction from head coach Arne Slot, who was cautioned.

Pedro Porro had missed a great chance for Spurs, and Dominic Solanke had seen a goal ruled out for offside, before he assited Tsimkas for the winner.
Both sides will play the second leg at Anfield on February 6, with the winner on aggregate facing the winner of the other semifinal between Arsenal and Newcastle United, in the final.
The final of the Carabao Cup is slated for March 16 at Wembley.
