Spurs grab first Premier League victory at Wembley

With a 1-0 scoreline against Bournemouth on Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur secured their first ever Premier League victory at Wembley stadium.

Christian Eriksen’s 47th-minute goal was enough to see off Bournemouth and pick maximum points for the first time at their temporary home this season.

The visitors’ defenders were superb in the first half as Spurs couldn’t get a chance, but Eriksen gave them the lead with a smart left-footed finish right after the interval.

Substitute Jermain Defoe almost levelled for Bournemouth, but goalkeeper Lloris made the save and kept the hosts on top till the final whistle.

In spite of the defeat, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was not disappointed with his players. He said: “I’m pleased with the players tonight. They delivered the game plan really well. We threw caution to the wind at the end.

“I thought we were well in the game, we defended really well and has opportunities too.

“Performances have picked up. If we keep playing like that I am sure we will be fine,” he added.

Spurs will be playing in the Champions League next week, as Bournemouth prepare to visit Stoke City, who were beaten by Manchester City also on Saturday.
