Spurs grab three late goals, Chelsea beat City, Arsenal win

Tottenham Hotspur produced a sensational late turnaround to beat a stubborn Swansea side 3-1 away in their English Premier League week 31 clash on Wednesday night.

Spurs fell behind to a neat close-range finish from Swansea winger Wayne Routledge in the 11th minute. It appeared like the home side were going to win the game but Dele Alli eventually broke through to convert Christian Eriksen’s cross after 88 minutes.

About three minutes later, in stoppage time, Son Heung-min fired Tottenham ahead, before Eriksen completed the remarkable comeback with a curling effort in the 94th minute, as a third defeat in four games sees Swansea drop into the relegation zone.

“It is crazy how the goals came in the last few minutes but we pushed and we created chances to win. Today was a difficult game and the team showed big character,” Spurs Boss Pochettino said at the end.

Premier League leaders Chelsea claimed a massive three points by beating Manchester City at Stamford Bridge to stay seven points clear in the table.

Eden Hazard gave the Blues a 10th minute lead when his shot deflected off City captain Vincent Kompany past keeper Willy Caballero. Thibaut Courtois’ poor clearance to David Silva few minutes to the half hour mark set up Sergio Aguero’s equaliser – but Chelsea got back in front before half-time by a rebound from a spot-kick by Hazard.

“It’s an honour to have the amazing players I have. We come here to Stamford Bridge and play the way we have, with huge personality. I’m a lucky guy to manage these guys,” City Boss Pep Guardiola said after the defeat.

City stay fourth with 58 points, two points adrift third-placed Liverpool, who gained only one point tonight.

At the Emirates Stadium, goals from Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud helped Arsenal crush West Ham 3-0.

The Gunners are now up to fifth in the table, only four points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, with a game in hand on Pep Guardiola’s side.

Arsenal had the best of the first half, but it was after the break they took control of the game.

“Ozil and Sanchez are important players but everyone did well. You could not say any player had a bad performance,” Wenger said after the match. “We are in the final sprint in the Premier League. Consistency will be very important.”

In the other Premier League games of the night, Liverpool wasted two precious points as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Anfield by Bournemouth, who took home a point.

Hull City scored 4 goals against 2 from their visitors Middlesbrough, while Southampton thumped Crystal Palace 3-1.
