Spurs knock Man City out of Carabao Cup; Man Utd, Arsenal through
Tottenham Hotspur have advanced to the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup at the expense of eight-time winners Manchester City.
Spurs saw off the Pep Guardiola side 2-1 at the London stadium on Wednesday night, with goals from Timo Werner and Pape Sarr sealing it for the hosts.
Recall that Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou claimed recently he always wins silverware in his second season, and he now remains on course to fulfil his promise after an entertaining encounter.
Elsewhere, Manchester United thrashed Leicester City 5-2 to advance, in a game that saw Ruud van Nistelrooy begin his interim reign as manager of the Red Devils.

At Preston, Arsenal secured a 3-0 victory. The goals were by Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri and Kai Havertz.
Crystal Palace also scaled through after defeating Aston Villa 2-1, while Chelsea crashed out after a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, and Liverpool also beat Brighton 3-2 to reach the last eight.
For the first time in 14 years it’s an all Premier League quarter-final line-up. After Wednesday night, the quarter-final teams are as follows:
