Stephen Odey scores goal no. 16

MFM FC’s Stephen Odey extended his lead on the goal charts of this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign as he scores his 16th on Wednesday.

In the matchday 26 fixture played at his side’s home ground at Agege against Sunshine Stars, Odey scored the second goal by converting a 79th-minute penalty as MFM won 2-1 over their visitors.

It was Tchato Giscard who opened scoring for MFM in the 27th minute before Odey’s doubler, which was followed by Sunshine Star’s consolation goal through Ajibola Otegbeye, who converted from the spot to make the final score 2-1.

It was the second time Odey will score since the resumption of the league after he got among the goals in MFM’s 1-3 defeat at Kano Pillars on last week.

The striker, who recently made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has accounted for half of the goals scored by MFM since the beginning of this season.

With his 16 goals plus two assists in 22 league appearances, Odey aims to close in on Mfon Udoh’s 23-goal record in a single season.
