Steve Oronsaye, former HoS, arrested by EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has taken into custody a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Steve Oronsaye.
Oronsaye’s arrest comes on the heel of a 24-counts charge of money laundering already slammed on him before a Federal High Court, Abuja. He is alleged to have abused his position as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force and obtained the sum of N240million from the Central Bank of Nigeria under false pretense.

EFCC sources disclosed Tuesday evening that the former Head of Service who had been on administrative bail over other financial crimes being probed by the agency, was re-arrested in furtherance of investigations by the anti-graft agency.
Having come under severe criticism for shoddy prosecution of cases, the EFCC, it is believed, wants to build a water-tight case against Mr Oronsaye. Sources say he may spend the night in detention while being grilled.
