Fani-Kayode reportedly faints in EFCC custody

The EFCC says that it is still detaining the former minister for aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode for other offences separate from that for which he is alleged to have collected N800 million from funds purportedly meant for the purchase of arms.

The anti graft agency said Fani-Kayode, who was spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation‎ for the 2015 election was being held on the strength of a petition ‎received against him by EFCC’s Special Task Force in
Lagos.

This, the commission told a Federal High Court in Apo, Abuja was what prompted it to move him from Abuja to Lagos.

Counsel for the EFCC, Mr. Salisu Majidadi, appeared before Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, on behalf of the commission to oppose a fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Fani-Kay‎ode, seeking an order releasing him from the custody of the anti-graft agency.

But Fani-Kayode’s lawyer, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), who earlier argued his ‎client’s suit, insisted that the commission having failed to present the fresh petition as exhibit before the court, showed there was no proof that there was any on-going investigation of his client.

The judge has fixed June 29 for judgment in the suit.
