Stone throwing protesters in Ethiopia kill US citizen

The on-going protests and violence that has engulfed the Oromiya region of Ethiopia has claimed the life of a US citizen who was killed in the outskirts of the country’s capital when she was struck by a rock thrown by demonstrators in the area.

According to the US embassy, the victim was hit by a huge rock thrown by people in the area while she was driving past but did not give further details of the incident in its message.

There have been reports of residents throwing stones at vehicles after at least 55 people were killed in a stampede, when police fired teargas and shots in the air to disperse protesters during a festival in Oromiya region days ago.
