Life is full of pressure, deadlines, frustrations, and demands, these days it is so common that it has become an unavoidable part of life, so, what exactly is stress?

Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way, when you sense danger, whether it’s real or imagined, the body’s defenses kick into high gear in a rapid, automatic process known as the “fight-or-flight-or-freeze” reaction, or the stress response.

In the right circumstances, stress is a life saver as it is the body’s way of protecting you. When working properly, it helps you stay focused, energetic, and alert.

However, stress in large doses is simply bad as it stops being helpful and starts causing major damage to your health, your mood, your productivity, your relationships, and your quality of life, here are ten foods that help reduce and manage stress the healthy way.

Oatmeal- this helps fight the negative effects of stress on the body.

Avocado- eat half an avocado a day in order to reduce the stress in your life.

Dark chocolate- eating dark chocolate has been said to be lower stress level hormones.

Water- drink water to take your stress away.

Wine- one glass of wine a day keeps the stress away. PS: only one glass.

Milk- a glass of warm milk is very calming and keeps the stress away.

Orange- A German study in Psychopharmacology found that vitamin C, present in oranges, helps reduce stress and return blood pressure and cortisol to normal levels after a stressful situation. Vitamin C is also well-known for boosting your immune system.

Turkey- this contains an amino acid called L-tryptophan. This amino acid triggers the release of serotonin, which is a feel-good brain chemical. This is the reason why many people who eat turkey feel relaxed, or even tired, after eating it. L-Tryptophan has a documented calming effect.

Sweet potatoes- these can be particularly stress-reducing because they can satisfy the urge you get for carbohydrates and sweets when you are under a great deal of stress. They are packed full of beta-carotene and other vitamins, and the fiber helps your body to process the carbohydrates in a slow and steady manner.

Walnuts- a handful of walnuts helps tame stress.

The above foods will definitely help manage stress which is daily component of the modern world today.
