Stubborn Jibrin shuns Ethics Committee

Abdulmumin Jibrin was nowhere to be found as House of Representatives Committee on Ethics and Privileges Committee commenced its investigative hearing into allegation of misconduct leveled against him.
 
The House had on Wednesday mandated the Ethics Committee to probe allegations of misconduct against the former Appropriations Committee Chairman, who had alleged that Speaker Yakubu Dogara and principal members of the House criminally padded the 2016 budget.
 
The meeting of the Ethics and Privileges Committee held on Friday presided over by Nicholas Ossai.
 
However, Orker Jev, who moved the motion against Jibrin at the plenary of the House, during the meeting told the Ossai led committee that he had video clips and over 100 newspaper reports, where Jibrin breached House standing Rules. 
 
He was told to present all the papers and video clips to aid the committee properly investigate the matter.
 
Jibrin had on Thursday tweeted in pidgin English on his twitter account, “This man (Dogara) think say I be real mugu (fool)…EFCC dey wait for you two months you no go but you hit gavel say make I go ethics.”
 
 
Jibrin said on Wednesday that he was ready to appear before the committee at any time, but insisted that the proceedings must be public.
“This is the only way that I can have the comfort and confidence that the proceedings and outcome will not be manipulated or compromised and the Ethics committee will allow the Press, CSOs, NGOs, NLC, ASUU, NANS, NBA and the general public to witness the entire proceedings,” Jibrin had stated.
