Luis Suarez proved doubters wrong by firing Barcelona into their sixth successive Copa del Rey final on Wednesday night.

The Uruguayan scored a brace and forced an own goal on Raphael Varane as Barca thrashed rivals Real Madrid 3-0 at the Bernabeu.

Suarez is Barcelona’s third top El Clasico scorer with 11 goals – behind Lionel Messi (26) and Cesar Rodríguez (14).

Real dominated with 14 shots to Barca’s four but the visitors were clinical when it mattered.

Real had forced Barca to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Camp Nou, but got unlucky at home.

Both sides will meet again at the Bernabeu on Saturday in La Liga.

The Copa del Rey final takes place on May 25, when Barcelona will face either Real Betis or Valencia, the other semi-finalists.

Their tie will be settled on Thursday, with Valencia at home, after the first leg finished 2-2.
