Super Eagles can beat Egypt with Siasia, says Ighalo

Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, is optimistic that Coach Samson Siasia will lead the national team to victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt in the coming AFCON 2017 qualifiers scheduled for March 25 in Kaduna.

The Watford of England striker made this declaration while speaking on television programme monitored in Lagos on Tuesday.

Ighalo said: “I think he has the experience, he has been there before and has done well,” he said.

“I am 100percent in support of him (Siasia) because he is a good coach whom I worked with sometimes before.”

He however said the match would be tough but believed that the Super Eagles would be on the winning side, because of the calibre of players invited.

He further advised his teammates to work hard and show that they have what it takes to challenge for victory in the two games.

Ighalo has fired 14 goals in the English Premier League, but he last scored on January 30.

“I won’t allow this (his goals drought) to put me down, it happens to all strikers, but I know the goals will soon start coming. I will continue to work hard and it will be a matter of time before I am scoring again,” he declared.

“The second half of the season is often more difficult, but we will get 40 points as we already have 36 points and we still have nine games to go. We have had some bad results in the last two, three games.”
