Eagles maintain 51st spot in FIFA rankings

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr says his team will play against Poland on March 23, 2018 in an international friendly in preparation for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group D alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in the FIFA tournament, and the game against Poland which would be played in the Polish City of Wroclaw is designed as a tune up.

“We will play Poland at home on March 23rd,” Rohr was quoted on French website Football365.fr.

‘’Croatia is capable of great things with a team of stars playing in the biggest clubs. This is the most important match, and we hope to prepare for it against opponents similar to Croatia.”

Rohr added that the Eagles are hoping to play another friendly in Europe, and so, they are currently looking for a second opponent for another FIFA date in the spring.

Poland are also playing at the World Cup, and have been drawn alongside Senegal, Japan and Colombia. Thus the game is also a test for the European nation.

Meanwhile, about a camping site for the Super Eagles in preparations for the global showpiece, Rohr said, “We chose a base camp that we visited in southern Russia, between Sochi and Volgograd, in the countryside, in a region of mineral and spa baths.”

He added: “Physically, we will be ready. We will take a second physical trainer, in this case Bernard Ginès, I had in my staff in Nice, between 2002 and 2005. We will receive FieldWiz, which are GPS to work better in detail.

“We will have to progress in the scouting of our own players so as not to make mistakes in the list of 30, then that of 23. We will strengthen the scouting team.”
