Nigeria rise to 38th on FIFA ranking, 4th in Africa

The proposed training camp for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Paris, France after the May 26 friendly match against Corsica has been cancelled, a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed to Complete Sports.

The scheduled international friendly against Togo as announced by the Togo FA last week has also been cancelled due to logistics.

“The friendly announced by the Togo Football Federation will not hold due to several logistics reasons and the team are due back in Nigeria latest May 28,” the source, a member of the technical sub-committee of the NFF, said.

The friendly game against Corsica and the camping that should have followed were initially meant to prepare the national team for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa on June 10 in Uyo.

But the camping will no longer hold as the players and officials will now return to Abuja after the Corsica game.

The official however added that the players will be given a few days off when they return, before the squad list for the 2019 AFCON qualifier against South Africa will be released.
