The national women’s football team, Super Falcons will play against ASEC Mimosas Academy in a test match in Abidjan today (Friday) by 5p.m.

The friendly encounter is in preparation ahead of the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AFCON) billed to hold in Ghana from November 17.

The Thomas Dennerby ladies are currently camped at Sol Beni, Abidjan, where they plan to stay for eight days as their final camping ahead of the Ghana tounament.

Having lost 3-2 in the first friendly match against Dominion Hotspur at the Atlantic Hall pitch during their two-week long camping in Lagos, Dennerby believes the U16 boys game will help him assess his overseas-based players, who missed out in the first game.

“I think it is always good to play friendly because some other players came to camp lately,” Dennerby told reporters in Abidjan as cited by CSN.

“Hopefully, the one or two games and some good training sessions in Abidjan will help us in preparing very well.”

Nigeria’s Falcons, eight-time champions, will depart for Ghana on Wednesday, 14th November, and will take on South Africa on November 18 to begin their title defence.

They will also play against Zambia and Equatorial Guinea in Cape Coast in their other group matches.

Hosts Ghana, Algeria, Mali and Cameroon will battle for the two available spots in Group A in Accra.
