Aregbesola tows APC’s familiar path, says PDP reason he pays half salaries

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday celebrated with his party’s famous critic, Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State.

Fayose’s spokesman said the Osun State governor, who in the past had exchanged banters with Fayose, was in the state to commemorate with the governor and the people of Ekiti on their 20th anniversary.

Fayose’s Campaign Organisation (AFCO) once described Aregbesola as “one of the dangers to democracy in Nigeria” after Aregbesola allegedly called on APC supporters in Ekiti State to attack security agents with charms and amulets during the August 9, 2014 governorship election in the state.

Aregbesola was also among Nigerians who allegedly described the emergence of Fayose in the Ekiti 2014 governorship election as fraudulent.

This comment was also attacked by Fayose and his campaign group with a reply, “It is shameful that some people whose mouths should naturally be padlocked still speak on elections in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the two governors despite their differences visited each other. Fayose had nine months ago visited Aregbesola at the government house in Oshogbo.

The visit was interpreted by some Nigerians as an opportunity to seek Aregbesola’s assistance to help him plead with President Muhammadu Buhari to forgive him (Fayose) for all his attacks on the President.

Fayose denied the allegation and claimed, “We are all Yoruba, politics is like water, it can flow anywhere. I believe in the Yoruba race, the race comes first before the office of the governor. The race is eternal while that of governor is momentary. We must watch today to be guided by tomorrow. I am here for the unity of Yoruba as it affects the Oodua, the progenitor.”
