Suspect arrested for killing student with machete in Enugu

A suspect named Monday Nnaji has been arrested by the police in Enugu State for allegedly killing a secondary school boy, Great Nwobodo, in Amodu community, Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who confimed this in a statement in Enugu on Monday said that the deceased, Great Nwobodo, was coming back from school alongside three of his siblings on that fateful day June 6 along Amodu Ubia Road when the suspect allegedly attacked him and struck him with the machete repeatedly.

He added that the machete was recovered from the suspect who hails from the same Amodu community while a full-scale investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident was directed by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Suleiman Balarabe.

The corpse of the deceased was deposited at District Hospital Mortuary, Agbani, for post mortem examination while the suspect is said to be helping police operatives in their investigation into the matter.
