Swansea boss Carvalhal says club is 'breathing again' after stunning Arsenal

Following a 3-1 victory against Arsenal on Tuesday, Swansea City boss, Carlos Carvalhal, is optimistic that his side are on their way to achieving a good position in the Premier League this season.

Swansea moved out of the relegation zone for the first time since November after Sam Clucas’ brace and Jordan Ayew’s tap in made Nacho Monreal’s opener of no effect.

Carvalhal, who recently took over as the Swans manager and saw off Liverpool in their last league game, expressed his delight over the performance of his players.

“We are very happy. To win against Arsenal after beating Liverpool…I’m more than proud of my players,” the coach said.

“We knew Arsenal would have more of the ball, as they do against almost all the teams in the Premier League.

“We knew if we put them under pressure it would create clear situations. We waited for our moment and then we scored. I must give all the credit to my players.

“We are breathing again now, we are not dead anymore. We’ve achieved nothing so far, but we are on our way to achieving a good position.

“We are not in a good position yet, but we can get there,” he added.

Swansea have now lost only once in eight games and victory over Arsenal was their second successive win against a team in the top six.

They face Leicester City this weekend.
