SWAP DEAL: Sanchez moves to Man Utd as Mkhitaryan joins Arsenal

English Premier League side, Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal on Monday.

29-year-old Sanchez, who almost joined Manchester City last summer, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Old Trafford and has been handed the iconic no. 7 jersey.

He scored 80 goals for the Gunners since joining from Barcelona in July 2014, and was last season’s top scorer with 30 goals in all competitions.

“I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world,” said Sanchez.

“The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down.

“I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team, and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United in exchange for Sanchez.

The Armenia international moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in July 2016 and scored 13 goals in 63 appearances for United.

But he has made only 10 Premier League starts this season, and says he is happy to join the Gunners.

“I’m very happy that we could finish this deal and I’m very happy to be here. It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal. Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history,” the 29-year-old was quoted as saying on the official Arsenal website.
