Though no official reason has been given for their absence, it is believed that the action of the members-elect may not be unconnected to claims by the Chairman of the APC in the state, Isa Achida, that PDP supporters attacked their members in the state.

INEC’s Commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, Amina Zakari, who presented the certificates, called on politicians to be gallant in defeat and magnanimous in victory.

“If you don’t win today, there is hope that you can win tomorrow,” she said.

Also in his remarks at the event, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, boasted that he had fulfilled the promise he made that he would conduct free and fair elections in the state.
