Taxi driver stabs colleague to death in scuffle over prostitute

Tragedy struck at the White Sand area of Ijora Badia when a cab driver identified as Sodiq Fatai was stabbed to death following a scuffle with a rival simply named Asunmo over a prostitute.

Reports say Asunmo approached Fatai challenging him over his relationship with the lady whom he (Asunmo) was dating when the scuffle which resulted in the death of the cab driver ensued.

According to a community leader who pleaded anonymity, his attention was called after Fatai’s lifeless body was found in a heap of rubbish in the area.

“I was told that the two men fought and one stabbed the other to death. The police from the Ijora Badia came to take the corpse away.”

However, an unidentified resident of the area revealed that both Fatai and Asunmo were drunk when they attacked each other.

“The men were always fighting after drinking. They fought after they were inebriated.” The resident said.

Confirming the arrest of Asunmo who was detained at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, Lagos State, SP Dolapo Badmos, the Police Public Relations Officer, said Asunmo’s corpse has been deposited at a hospital.

“The corpse has been deposited in the morgue of the Mainland General Hospital. The suspect, who initially escaped, has been arrested.”
