Following the non-arrival of the official kits by the Sports Ministry, Team Nigeria athletes have opted to shop for kits to compete in their various competitions at the ongoing Rio Olympics in Brazil.
Apart from the track suit used for the opening ceremony parade, nothing has been given to the athletes as kits.
Some of the athletes who have started their events apart from the football team who received their kits from the Nigeria Football Federation, have resulted to shopping for kits locally just to be able to compete.
“This is a big shame to the nation and earlier we start doing the right thing the better for us as a nation,” the official said.
“All what we are hear was they are waiting for the kits and maybe before the end of the games, we are going to get the kits,” he said.
“Athletes from other countries are competing in the same kits across all sports but Team Nigeria is different because there are no kits.
