Tension as US tests 2nd intercontinental ballistic missile

For the second time in two days, the United States of America has test launched an intercontinental ballistic missile which sent fears down the spine of many with growing tension of a possible nuclear war between Washington and Pyongyang.

Reports say the missile was fired from California for the second time in seven days and according to the US Air Force, an unarmed Minuteman 3 blasted off from a silo at Vandenberg Air Force Base on Wednesday.

The report added that the missile delivered a mock warhead to a target at Kwajalein (kwah-juh-leen) Atoll in the Pacific Ocean after a 6,500 kilometre flight.

The test of the nuclear missile took 10 months to plan. Another Minuteman 3 was launched from the same base exactly a week earlier.

The US has about 450 of the missiles and they are routinely tested. The latest tests come amid rising tensions with North Korea, which has tested its own nuclear missiles – including some designed to reach the United States
