Terror attacks: Senegal arrests 900

The police in Senegal have gone on an overdrive following the arrest of 900 people in an attempt to foil possible militant attacks that happened in neighbouring Mali and Burkina Faso.

The recent assaults on a hotel in Mali and a hotel and restaurant in Burkina Faso, both claimed by Islamists, have raised security fears in the region.

The arrests majorly took place in the capital of Dakar and Thies, though they were not terror related.

Senegal is known to be a popular tourist destination but has been relatively safe.
