Thai police arrests 5 sailors for rape, assault on French tourists

According to Thai police about five Cambodian sailors have been arrested in connection with alleged  rape and assault allegations against four French tourists on a resort island, which saw the raping of the two women in the group.

According to Maj. Gen. Nopparat Rintapon, head of police in Trat province, three of the tourists were badly injured when the five Cambodian suspects attacked them with knives and sticks on the Island of Koh Kut moments after anchoring their fish boat.

“One of the tourists ran away and got help at a nearby hotel, while the two female tourists were raped. The victims were sent to a Trat hospital for treatment, ” Nopparat said.
It could be recalled that a Thai court sentenced two Myanmar migrants to death last December for the murders of a British man and woman whose bodies were found on the Thai resort island of Koh Tao in September 2014. The woman had also been raped.
