The next Falana, netizens hail Deji Adeyanju for freeing Speed Darlington, VDM, PidomNigeria
Social media users have been full of praises for activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over his recent efforts at securing the release of singer and social media commentator Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, from the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria police after he was arrested following a petition filed against him by Afrobeats star, Burna Boy.
Adeyanju had announced the release of Speed Darlington in a tweet late Tuesday after public outcry over his arrest by his colleague over a social media post Burna Boy deemed had defamed him.
Following the arrest of Speed Darlington who is also known as Akpi, and the public outcry that ensued including his mother’s cry her son to be released, Adeyanju swung into action and successfully secured his release on bail.
Before the Speed Darlington saga, Adeyanju had been very active in the past few months, taking up the fight to free government critic, Isaac Bristol, alias PidomNigeria and social media activist, Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan and as a result of these, netizens have hailed him as the next Femi Falana, who is unarguably and currently Nigeria’s most active human rights activist.
