There’re Nigerians fighting for ISIL, Buhari says

Buhari assures Nigerians of better days ahead

President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that there may be a number of Nigerians who have found their way to Syria, and who are fighting for the Islamic State of Iran and Libya (ISIL).

According to him, he does not have any idea about their number, adding that they may be fighting for any of the sides involved in the armed strife in that country.

The president made this assertion in an interview with the Telegraph of London.

He said, “I haven’t seen confirmed reports about that, but I know that it is not only in Sirte – there are also Nigerians finding their way to Syria too. I don’t know which side, but they may be fighing for Isil. How many, I have no idea.”
