With a promise to unite the country and to create a “strong, new, positive vision for the future,” not just for the privileged few, but for everyone, Theresa May is set to become the next British Prime Minister.

The Conservative party leader and incoming Prime Minister made the comments in her remarks shortly after her leadership was confirmed stating further that her priorities will be to administer Britain’s exit from the European Union, a move approved by voters last month.

The expected resignation of British Prime Minister David Cameron and the pulling out of Theresa’s closest rival — Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom – who decided to discontinue her race due to comments she made about motherhood and leadership, now paves the way for the Home Secretary to take the reins.

“Obviously, with these changes, we now don’t need to have a prolonged period of transition. And so tomorrow I will chair my last cabinet meeting. On Wednesday I will attend the House of Commons for prime minister’s questions. And then after that I expect to go to the palace and offer my resignation. So we will have a new prime minister in that building behind me by Wednesday evening,” Cameron told reporters outside 10 Downing Street on Monday.
