LAGOS: School children, many others feared killed as 3-storey building colapses

Three residents narrowly escaped death on Thursday night when a three storey building collapsed in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, while confirming the incident to newsmen, said, “The building which is situated at Sharks Squad on Lekki Expressway, collapsed at about 7:14 pm on Thursday.”

He explained further that the collapsed three storey building was under construction when it fell down, adding that three people had been rescued in the incident.

“The three people sustained various degrees of injuries and they have been treated and discharged,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.

He confirmed that no death was recorded, while officials are still working and monitoring situation at the site.

He, however, said that the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA), as well as the Ministry of Solid Material Testing Agency And Physical Planning had been informed to commence investigation on the matter.
