Marilyn Ogar was relieved of her post by sacked Director General, Lawal Daura shortly after he assumed office as the DG. Though a Tony Opuiyo has been signing releases by the nation’s secret police, it was believed to be a mere pseudo name.

According to the statement from DSS, Afunanya obtained MA in English (2009), from the University of Uyo and another MA in Peace and Strategic Studies (2011), from the University of Ilorin.
