Political thugs have struck again after shooting dead a police sergeant, Sunday Idako on Sunday night during an attempt to snatch election results while it had been delivered to Ilaro in Ogun state.

It was gathered that the harmed thugs opened fire on the vehicle conveying late sergeant Sunday attached to the Police Special Protection Unit, SPU, and INEC officials who were heading to Ilaro from Ipokia in Ogun state.

It was in a bid to prevent the thugs from snatching the results during a gun battle that the sergeant was shot in the chest and rib cage.

The spokesman for Ogun State Police Command, DPS Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP, Ahmed Illyasu had ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, SCIID to look into the investigation while the thugs were been trailed.

After being alerted, Military and police personnel retaliated and overpowered the hoodlums which caused them to flee while INEC ad hoc officials sustained injuries.
