TIMI FRANK

Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Professor Itse Sagay (SAN), has been told what to do over the Supreme Court rulings on election matter in Zamfara and Rivers states chapters of All Progressives Congress (APC).

A former deputy national publicity secretary of the ruling APC, who gave the advice, said Sagay should rather appeal to god to change the ruling of the apex court instead of kicking and demanding that the rulings should be reviewed and revised.

Sagay, a professor of law, had in a statement on Thursday, described the Supreme Court judgment that banned Rivers APC from participating in elective position during 2019 general elections, and the apex court’s recent judgment that sacked all elected APC candidates in Zamfara during the general elections as a national tragedy.

Sagay, an adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, had therefore called on APC to appeal for a review of the rulings, saying that the ruling should be reversed.

But responding in a statement on Friday, Frank blasted Sagay, advising him to learn to stand by the truth instead of twisting the law for selfish ends.

“At his age and level of experience, Sagay should learn to stand by the truth instead of twisting the law for selfish ends. Sagay cannot claim to be more learned or more patriotic than the Justices of the Supreme Court. Therefore, asking the apex court to attempt to reverse itself is to court chaos.

“The Supreme Court has ruled fairly and justly concerning Zamfara and Rivers states, and the judgments made Nigerians proud and hopeful that there is still hope for the nation’s democracy despite the shenanigans we saw in the last general elections.

“The Supreme Court has demonstrated once again that the Judiciary is truly the last hope of the common man. Sagay’s position on issues concerning the aforementioned cases is irrelevant being an APC chieftain who is known to lie profusely by twisting the law to suit his selfish intents.

“Fortunately, Nigerians know his antics and no longer take him seriously. So, if he does not like the judgment, let him appeal to God.

“Whenever a court’s judgment is not in favour of the APC, it is miscarriage of justice but when it favours APC – even if unconstitutional means were used to procure it – it is true justice.

“Does Sagay not understand the law? Is he no longer a follower of the law? Has he been a bad influence on our illegal President who stole the people’s mandate during the last presidential election?

“With people like Sagay advising the government, things can only get worse,” the statement read.
