In a revenue generation blitz, The Tin Can Island Port (TCIP) Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced its highest revenue in a single year.

TCIP Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Dera Nnadi during a press briefing on Thursday, November 7, 2024 disclosed that the Command has generated over N1trillion in 2024.

This is even as the Command also unveiled 16 recently intercepted containers of illicit drugs and unregistered pharmaceuticals.

“We are glad to announce that the Command as at today the 7th of November 2024 has generated N1,046,496,593,103.60. The Command wishes to celebrate this milestone of collecting over one trillion naira as Customs duty being the first time this has been achieved in its history.

“I dedicate this achievement to the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team. The Command acknowledges the specific roles of the DCG Tariff and Trade and the DCG ICT /Modernization for their contributions too. Aware that a secured border will translate to more revenue at the seaports, we also appreciate the support of the DCG Enforcement, Investigation & Inspection in enforcing compliance among our stakeholders leading to the increased revenue in the Command,” Nnadi said.

Meanwhile, the 16 containers of significant seizures which had illicit substances and unregistered pharmaceutical products were discharged from May 17 to October 23, 2024.
