Tinubu appoints Ogunjimi acting Accountant-General as Madein bows out

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF).

The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Ogunjimi will take over from Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, who has proceeded on a pre-retirement leave.

 Madein will retire from service on March 7, 2025, after attaining the statutory age of 60 years.

The statement read: “Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi’s appointment ensures a smooth transition in the administration of Nigeria’s treasury and reinforces the ongoing implementation of the administration’s treasury policy reforms. 

“He is a seasoned career civil servant with over 30 years of experience and has held prominent roles, including Director of Funds at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“A certified chartered accountant, fraud examiner, stockbroker, and security and investment specialist, Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting. 

“President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s ability to maintain the efficiency of the nation’s treasury operations, stating, ‘The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation is pivotal to our nation’s treasury management operations.

“Mr. Ogunjimi’s wealth of experience and notable competence will ensure the continued effectiveness of this vital institution as we advance our economic reform agenda.” 

The president also commended Madein for her dedicated service to the nation.
