Tinubu condemns attack on Trump as “distasteful”, against democratic norms
President Bola Tinubu has strongly criticized the recent assassination attempt on former United States President Donald Trump.
The incident occurred during a political rally on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Pennsylvania, US, where Trump narrowly escaped harm.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Trump recounted, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.”
Authorities revealed that 20-year-old Thomas Crooks fired multiple gunshots during the rally, resulting in one fatality and injuries to two others. The Secret Service reported that Crooks fired from “an elevated position outside the rally” and was swiftly “neutralized” by agents.

He stated, “I extend my sympathies to the former President and wish him relief. I also condole with the family of the deceased and those wounded and wish them a quick recovery.”
Furthermore, Tinubu affirmed Nigeria’s solidarity with the United States during this challenging time.
