Today’s actors more concerned about social media than acting –Segun Arinze
One of Nollywood’s most revered and respected thespians; Segun Arinze is miffed by the mind-set of young and emerging actors whom he described as more concerned about their popularity on social media rather than getting trained on the job.
In an interview with HipTV, the actor who expressed his worry over the future of Nollywood said the younger generation are not “well grounded in the art, not disciplined and lack knowledge”.
“Today’s set of Nollywood actors are not grounded. What they know how to do is to speak phonetics.” Segun said.
Continuing, he added that; “Most of these guys are pretentious. They are only interested in who has the highest number of likes or followers on their social media platforms.
“Most of them are not even disciplined and they lack the knowledge; they only want to be popular,” the actor further stated, noting that talent was not enough as an actor but constant training to surpass your colleagues.
“I am sorry to say this but the truth is that today’s crop of Nollywood actors are not grounded. Talent is not the only thing you need; you also have to be grounded,” he added.
