Tompolo to Buhari: Your soldiers caused amputation of my father's leg

Former militant warlord, Government Ekpemupolo, known popularly as Tompolo, has denied being the mastermind of recent threats by the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to resume bombing of oil installations in the region.

The Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) had accused Tompolo of being behind the recent vow by its rival militant group, NDA to resume attacks in the oil rich region of Nigeria.

But, in a statement Tompolo released on Monday through his media consultant, Paul Bebenimibo, he refuted the claim and insisted on his earlier stand that nothing will ever make him resort to the destruction of oil pipelines.

The statement read, “Ordinarily, we would have ignored these media statements by these so-called avengers and reformed avengers because it is not a new tactics by these groups in bringing Tompolo’s name to whatever thing that happens in the Niger Delta region because of his legal battle with the government.

“Let it be stated at this point that Tompolo is not the only person having legal issues with the present government. Let us also state here that these accusations do not take away the fact that our dear country is in a crossroad.

“We wish to reiterate our earlier stand that nothing will make Tompolo to resort to destruction of oil facilities he once protected in a contractual arrangement. Those that have ears let them hear.”

Tompolo, a fugitive, has constantly been accused of being behind NDA, an allegation he has also persistently denied.

The NDA itself has constantly made it clear that it has nothing to do with Tompolo and has often times, including in its recent statement announcing the call off of its ceasefire, denounced Tompolo.
