Tompolo to Buhari: Your soldiers caused amputation of my father's leg

In what appears as a change of tone, wanted ex Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly called Tompolo, has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over the alleged brutalisation of his 84 year old father.

According to Tompolo, security agents have continued to harass and lay siege on his family and associates in the guise of looking for him.

He added that his father was treated roughly in Kurutie community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government, resulting in the amputation of his lower limbs, two weeks ago.

The ex-militant, who indicated the letter may be his last to Buhari, said the continuous harassment and intimidation was getting out of hand, and he does not deserve it.

Recalling how his father was rescued and taken to a hospital in Warri for treatment after he was attacked by soldiers, Tompolo said: “Sadly, one of his lower limbs was amputated two weeks ago.

“From the doctor’s report, it will be a thing of miracle if he survives this incident. Is this 84-year-old man also a member of the Niger Delta Avengers that they brutalized to the point of death? Tompolo asked.

He also, in the letter, pointed accusing fingers at two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Chief Ayiri Emami and Chief Michael Johnny, as colluding with the Nigerian Army, Navy and the Department of State Services, DSS, to keep harassing and intimidating his family and associates.

“Will Your Excellency accept this in good faith if this was done to your father or someone of this age in your family?”, Tompolo asked Buhari
