Tompolo’s kinsmen tell Army to keep Egbesu sword and bear the consequence

Pere Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe of Gbaramatu Kingdom, has said that the Nigeria Army should not bother to return the Egbesu golden sword it allegedly took from the community.

According to him, his people believe strongly that the “stolen symbol of authority can and will avenge its desecration.”

This was even as the traditional council said it has started moves to replace the golden sword.

Gbaramatu kingdom is the ancestral home of wanted militant, Government Ekpemokpolo also known as Tompolo.

Nigeria soldiers were alleged to have away the golden sword, which is the sign of the people’s authority, when troops invaded the Egbesu shrine in Oporoza in search of Tompolo.
Acting secretary of the Gbaramatu Traditional Council, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, during the event, said, “The Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs wish to bring to the attention of the Kingdom, Nigerians and the international community the failed appeals, entreaties, and efforts geared towards the stolen golden royal sword, the symbol of authority of the Pere.

“Since the unwanted aggression, the kingdom has lived without this well revered traditional symbol of authority.

“The Pere-In-Council after a careful evaluation of the incident and the attendant uncertainty the absence of the traditional symbol of authority have thrown the kingdom into hereby make the following pronouncements.

“That the time frame for a return of the stolen golden sword has elapsed.

“That no compensation, monetary or otherwise would be necessary as such cannot be accepted from the Nigerian state or the military.

“It’s our utmost believe that the stolen symbol of authority can and will avenge its desecration”.

When questioned on what would happen should the offenders repent and return the sword, Gbenekama said that was no longer necessary, because the time given for that has elapsed.

What according to him await those who ‘stole’ Egbesu golden sword is calamity and nothing more.
