Tope Aluko of Ekiti: What manner of a coward

Published

on

We all saw that video. The one that was on social media during the elections, depicting some very top PDP stalwarts and a very senior Army officer plotting in the name of the then Commander in Chief to rig massively the elections.

That video was very musing to me as it graphically showed us the kinds of people who were leading us. People with no fear at all, people with no integrity and no shame who blatantly broke the law all in their bid to achieve their naked ambition.

A lot of denials were thrown out at the time and even the Army Officer who made the recording was hounded into hiding. We all were convinced and just listened to their lies knowing that one day, like it always does the truth will come out.

That day has come and through Mr. Aluko the whole drama has been unveiled and the naked butt of the chicken has been blown open by the wind coming out of Mr. Aluko’s mouth. But am I happy, I think not.

I listened to Aluko’s disgraceful interview on channels TV shaking my head at the level of cowardice this person was showing the world. This was a classic case of a scorned person trying to get back his own pound of flesh, simply because he had been thrown out from the eating of the bowl of porridge. In annoyance he has come out to vomit, despite the fact that he was part of the alleged corrupt practices and even gained from it up to the point where he became dissatisfied when he did not get his share of the ‘loot’ as it were.

In my mind, I think this squealer is worse than those people in that video. He has shown simply that he cannot be trusted. He did not under duress or under any form of investigation or interrogation start squealing He on his own volition, after I suppose a failed attempt at blackmail, has come out to sing. This to me has stained his submission because it is coming from a mind wracked with the need for revenge and as such would be tainted with evil intentions.

So if he got the cheap appointment he was looking for, he would have kept quiet for life. I think he should be arrested, his role in what he is talking about be properly investigated and adequate punishment be thrown at him, if found guilty. This is no plea bargaining, this is blackmail in its worse way and should not be encouraged. The fact that he has come out years later to scream does not wipe out his role in the sordid affair, In fact he should be docked for concealment thereby causing an obstruction in the quest for justice.

When the administration of Fayemi first conceded victory to Fayose, we all congratulated him and clapped, but when new information came out and he recanted, we also all looked with incredulity. Some of us even berated Fayemi for recanting. In all these, Mr Aluko kept quiet and even defended the tainted victory simply because he was comfortable and was expecting his own gains. But immediately he found out he was denied he went on air to make allegations I hope for his own sake he can defend.

I want to applaud Governor Fayose for calling his bluff and taking a stand against blackmail. Most of us would have caved in and granted this rat his wishes and as we all know from mafia movies, the blackmail never ends. This rat would have blackmailed himself into the governor’s seat and that would have been detrimental not only to the Ekiti people, but to all Nigerians.

I want to wish Governor Fayose well in this position he has taken, not for doing those things if they are actually correct but for calling Mr. Aluko’s bluff. The lesson here is that we should always do the right things so as not to expose ourselves to this level of treachery. If Fayose himself had not dined with rats, he would not today be dancing with the wolves.

All the allegations must be investigated and if found true the law must be allowed to take its course, punishing all participants; both the perpetrators and those who were aware but kept quiet only to come and scream after the fact.

Mr. Aluko, me I fear you and may God not bring your type near me ever.
