TRADE WAR: Turkey pursues non-dollar transactions, says US acting like 'wild wolves'

Reeling from punitive economic measures imposed by the United States, Turkey has decided to sideline what it calls the ‘damaging’ US dollar in global trade.

That much information was made public by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who said negotiations between Turkey and Russia are under way on not using American dollars in bilateral trade.

Erdogan also said recent US sanctions imposed on Turkey showed Washington was behaving like “wild wolves”.

“We need to gradually end the monopoly of the dollar once and for all by using local and national currency among us,” he said.

Washington and Ankara have both been at loggerheads over the detention of American Pastor Andrew Brunson.

The Pastor was held two years ago on espionage and terror-related charges, remains under house arrest.
