Troops gun down pregnant suicide bomber

Troops of the Nigerian Army gunned down two suicide bombers who were about 18 years old, including a pregnant woman at Maiduguri-Damboa Road, Borno State.

Reports say the suicide bombers refused to stop for a search after they were intercepted around a security post in Ummarari Village.

According to information made available by security operatives, the two bombers at about 9 pm attempted to enter Maiduguri through Ummarari, before they were sighted by the civilian joint task force and shot dead by troops.

The corpses of the bombers had been evacuated by rescue workers, so says Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the National Emergency Management Agency, North-East spokesman.

“Emergency workers from NEMA, in collaboration with other stakeholders, moved to the scene and evacuated the bodies, when we got an alert about the bombers”, he said.

The incident is coming just as troops rescued no less than 211 civilians held captive by the Boko Haram terrorists at Murye and Mala Maja villages of the state.
