True, I met with Pinnick but I've not decided to play for Nigeria yet - Abraham

Amid reports of Tammy Abraham agreeing to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, the Swansea striker in a statement has reaffirmed his commitment to England.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick had told the Federation website of his meeting with the 19-year old, expressing confidence he will join the Super Eagles to secure a place at next year’s World Cup.

“Most recently, there was a meeting with Tammy, which Tammy’s agent, Neil Fewills also attended. It was a useful meeting, and I can say the talks are at an appreciable level now and all is looking good,” Pinnick told thenff.com

“Tammy is like a son to me, because his father was my childhood friend. I believe he is a good prospect for the Super Eagles and the effort is well worth it.”

But all appears not to be looking good as claimed by Pinnick as Abraham, who has scored twice in seven appearances for Swansea, announced that he has made himself available for selection for England.

“Contrary to reports in the media today I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my National team allegiance,” Abraham declared in a statement.

“I can confirm I met the President of the NFF after our last game against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday given he is a friend of my father.

“However, any suggestion that I have made a decision to change my international representation is incorrect and wide of the mark.

“I have informed The FA that I remain available for selection for England.”

Abraham has featured for England at the U-18, U-19 and at the U-21 levels. Though he is yet to play for the Three Lions, his allegiance to England is well communicated.
