Trump blasts labour leader who says his policies are hurting American workers

Richard Trumka, president of the United States’ largest federation of labour unions got a scathing reply from US President Donald Trump after comments he made on Labor Day.

Trumka who is head of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), said on Sunday that Trump’s policies had hurt American workers.

Speaking on Fox News Sunday of Trump’s policies Trumka said: “Unfortunately, to date, the things that he’s done to hurt workers outpace what he’s done to help workers.”

In his reply, Trump took to Twitter saying Trumka had represented his union “poorly.”

“Some of the things he said were so againt [sic] the working men and women of our country, and the success of the U.S. itself, that it is easy to see why unions are doing so poorly,” Trump added.

In follow-up tweets, the president hailed economic growth, adding: “The Worker in America is doing better than ever before!”
