According to media reports in the United States, Donald Trump’s organisational financial chief Allen Weisselberg has been granted immunity in a federal probe involving the Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen.

Citing anonymous sources, The Wall Street Journal and NBC News claim that Weisselberg received immunity to speak to prosecutors in the investigation of hush money Cohen paid to two women, who claimed to have affairs with Trump.

Cohen had earlier said he is “more than happy” to speak to the inquiry into alleged collusion with Russia during the last polls.

Cohen who was a former lawyer of Trump had separately pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations and other charges, saying he made payments to influence the 2016 election at the direction of a candidate for federal office.

His revelation came after Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort was found guilty on Tuesday of eight financial crimes in the first trial victory of the special counsel investigation into the president’s associates.
