Trump tags EU, Russia & China as enemies, tells May to sue European body

Controversial US President is stoking fire again as he has described the European Union as a foe saying it has ‘taken advantage of us on trade’.

“Well, I think we have a lot of foes … Now you wouldn’t think of the European Union, but they’re a foe,” he said after being asked who the US’ biggest adversary is globally in an interview aired by CBS’ Face the Nation programme on Sunday.

Trump added the EU has “really taken advantage of us on trade” though this “does not mean that they are bad”.

“Russia is a foe in certain respects. China is a foe economically, certainly; they are a foe. But that doesn’t mean they are bad. It doesn’t mean anything. It means that they are competitive,” said Trump.

In a related development, Trump also called on UK Prime Minister to sue the EU instead of negotiating as she pushes to unite her party behind Brexit blueprint.

However, in her reaction to Trump’s comments, May told the BBC that what Trump referred to in a Friday press conference is a suggestion she found “too brutal”.

“No, no – we’re going into negotiations with them,” May said as she replied Trump’s themselves.

The US President is also scheduled to attend a summit with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin that could be overshadowed by accusations of Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.
