Trump's travel ban partially allowed into effect by US court

Travelers from six Muslim-majority countries with no connections to the United States of America have now been barred from entering the country after an appeals court let President Donald Trump’s latest travel ban go partially into effect.

The earlier move by Trump’s administration requesting to block at least temporarily a judge’s ruling that had put the new ban on hold was partially allowed into effect by a three-judge panel of the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

“We are reviewing the court’s order and the government will begin enforcing the travel proclamation consistent with the partial stay. We believe that the proclamation should be allowed to take effect in its entirety,” Justice Department spokeswoman Lauren Ehrsam said.

The ruling now affects people from Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and Chad who have been banned from entering the US especially if they do not have connections to the country.

In the month of October this year, Trump’s controversial travel ban on several Muslim countries was blocked by a federal judge in Hawaii for the third time in a row.

Judge Derrick Watson found that Trump’s order “plainly discriminates based on nationality” and fails to show that people coming from the listed countries would be” detrimental” to US national interests.
