TUNISIA: 2 men including a jihadist arrested over alleged plot to infect security forces with COVID-19

Concerned authorities in Tunisia have moved to arrest two men, including a suspected jihadist, over an alleged plot to infect members of the security forces in the country with COVID-19.

Tunisia’s interior ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the suspected jihadist – recently released from prison – had tried to encourage those who might have the virus to cough on police and security officials.

The statement by the interior ministry also revealed that the other two men said that they were told to deliberately cough everywhere when they both reported to a local police station – as part of the surveillance they were under.
